CYence Diction is:

A pop-up stall organised under the umbrella of the 5th Sardam (alternative literary readings festival
www.sardamcy.wordpress.com ) showcasing indigenous publishing as artistic practice - artworks in bookform that dwell in the realm of the textual, the verbi/visual, and beyond.

A lost and found made up archive, a journey that began with the discovery of a board game in a closing down bookstore. A post-digitalist manifesto devised by an alter-ego who printed fake money to make an entrance. An enigmatic pamphlet folds out to reveal imaginary diary entries and a map accompanied by a “tropical” OST. A concrete coloured booklet endeavours to make sense of the spatial, its maker once attempting to trace and reproduce cracks on the floor and succeeding. A journal documenting and evaluating the manifestation of a collective sonic experience and its after-effects is also included as is a dog guarding the poems drawn “from personal notes on feelings and interactions which happen to be set in the social space surrounding art events in Nicosia and Glasgow.”

A word appearing in a dream and an abandoned edifice encountered in waking life form the backbone of another small publication debuting at CYence Diction, the other being a recipe book for frustrated architects. A New Paper Project invites/challenges eight writers to ponder news titles from the ‘real world” and take it from there, and a small ten tome booklet, an exercise in performance publishing, binds together the words of many from different backgrounds. Open the cigar box for hidden marvels: found altered notebooks, inframince in envelopes and serially published fast books; To flick through or unfold is to experience magic through the quotidian. In a tangibly recalcitrant pamphlet desire is traced through feverish verses, wordplay, and dizzying typographical renditions. An existential photo-zine might interest neurologists and collage aficionados while another is a non-fictional collaboration that functions as “a diary of visual pleasures combining images and poetry for your basic fictional needs”.Last but not least a lo-fi riso serial publication whose name is derived from a weekly celebrity magazine features the work of local creatives and is usually dispersed here and there like a welcome virus.

Presented here is but a small fraction of a steadily growing ecology of artistic publishing practice. Come have a look, discover which is which. Most are for sale, a couple are for free.
