Georgios Makridis had been trained as a Civil and Structural Engineer at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, before studying Architecture at the Oxford Brookes University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, a Diploma in Architecture and a Master of Architecture.
Before setting his own practice, Georgios worked with George Stamatiou Architects (2008 - 2010, on contract) and Panayiotis Pierides (2011 - 2013) in Limassol, Cyprus. Since 2010, he has been developing architectural and spatial design work independently. In 2013 he founded do:gma (Design Office: Georgios Makridis), a practice currently involved in projects and competitions domestically and internationally. Later in the same year he founded D&RTT (Design and Research through Thinking), a practice which discusses and assumes space in its broadest possible definition.
Starting in 2011, Georgios taught in art studios in Cyprus for several years and his students have been successful candidates for undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in the UK. He also taught Introduction to Architecture at the University of Cyprus as a special scientist between 2014 and 2016. Georgios has also been an invited critic at the Oxford Brookes University School of Architecture, University of Cyprus School of Architecture and University of Nicosia School of Architecture. His research focuses on the mutual ground between architectural poiesis and contextual praxis, the social, the event, the narrative, the living and the literary.
Stelios Makrides graduated from the Higher Technical Institute of Cyprus more than 35 years ago. After working in several domestic construction projects, he pursued a career in teaching where he had the chance to train hundreds of students in subjects like Quantity Surveying, Materials, Technical Drawing, Structures, Construction and the like. His publication on Quantity Surveying is currently taught in technical schools in Cyprus. Stelios decided to retire from his teaching career and devote his self in Built Industry consulting in 2012.
Constantina Voskaridou graduated from Nottingham Trent University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Master of Architecture. A guru of architectural research and a master in composition refinement and curation, she is usually occupied with making architectural sense out of scattered nonsense, organising dense ideas into steps of rationality, and keeping a log of our otherwise uncategorised reality. Her alleged affiliation with systematic sects is still under thorough investigation.
Orestis Pavlides studied Architecture at the University of Cyprus and practiced the craft in the Netherlands before joining aboard and become responsible for tackling unprecedented hard-core representation tasks, debating on long-established politics in design, and teaching the rest by learning by himself to perform under technical and regulatory entropy. Meticulous definitions on the lot that transform eyebrows to ottoman arches, questionable music compilations that somehow make sense, and a natural way of setting aside the self for the benefit of the group are all in the same shop - go figure!
Always do:gma
Theodora Paschali graduated from Sheffield University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture. Her interests spread well beyond any border one could frame architecture with, as she is into film, video games and fantasy literature regarding their architecture and conceptual position. A well-trained design ninja, Theodora can easily be in between 3 projects, excel in all, be invisible and drink tea out of cartoon shaped mug.
Constantina Charalambous holds a Master of Architecture from De Montfort University, that followed a BArch at the University of Nottingham. An architectural stuntlady with a 'bring it on' attitude and an acrobat between software, design moods, and disciplines, she seeks motivation in the fundamental to deliver excellence. The magnitude of her design skills includes sensibility and sensitivity in architectural, spatial, graphic and industrial applications, as it includes the same virtues in culinary and otherwise indulging experiences.
Cleovoulos Aristarchou holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the Nottingham Trent University. His interests are within the topics of dwelling, cities and morphogenesis and he is most frequently found in between readings, drawings and ideas. A natural born leader, Cleovoulos manages to smile at every situation making himself a valuable member of the studio. A series of rumours connecting him with a 24/7 thinking on architecture has begun to spread and nobody seems to deny it.
