Competition Entry. Concept suggestion for a winery in Italy.
The main idea stems from the very essence of the fruit and its harvest. From arrival to departure the movement of people within the proposal mimics the pattern that is followed during the harvest. In that manner the horseshoe vector is interrupted by glimpses of the final product to give the participant visions of the scope of the journey. Moments of stasis, i.e. seating across the inner side of the perforated facade, are exchanged with moments of slight inclination to create an organic navigation through the building, equipped with stations where one can see, hear, touch, smell and taste the produce of the current year, and even the produce of the previous ones. Visitors, whether they head towards the event venue for a dinner party or towards the main exhibition area for a quick chat on the local wine practices, experience a holistic representation of what it is that makes the fruit and its product such unique translations of the locality itself. Departing can only be a promise of return, just like harvest can only be the beginning of cultivation for the next crop.
