Lanitio Gymnasium

The refurbishment of the Lanitio Gymnasium reinstates use, care, and presence within an existing steel and brick structure. What was once a neglected sports hall has been re-articulated through repair, and the calibration of colour and texture.
The red perforated brick is left visible — raw, porous, and rhythmic — while curved white partitions introduce a quiet contrast in geometry and light. New changing rooms and service areas follow the same logic of clarity: simple tiled surfaces, soft junctions, and measured movement between solid and void.
The floor, resurfaced in blue, defines the new field of play. Its graphic boundaries are drawn cleanly, setting a visual and spatial order that re-centres the act of gathering, competition, and motion.
Externally, a mural of Olympic rings and chromatic waves marks the façade — a civic gesture towards optimism and renewal. The intervention is modest in means but complete in intention: to return a space of exercise into a place of belonging.
